All-night Enlightenment Day Sit (Dec 9-10)

enlighten

Saturday and Sunday

December 9 – 10

10:00 pm – 10:00 am

As the story goes, the night before his enlightenment, the Buddha sat all night under the bodhi tree until he saw the morning star.

You’re welcome to join us for any and all parts of this night/morning–feel free to come and go as you need.  Those who sit all night welcome and appreciate the energy of new people dropping in.

We typically sit for 20-25 minute intervals and then walk outside, weather permitting.

A schedule of events:
10pm Dec 9:  Sit begins
5:30am Dec 10: Tea Ceremony served by Sokan Chris Ezzell and Fiore Grey.
7:30am: Enlightenment morning ceremony.
8am: Breakfast
10am-11:45: Regular Sunday service.

At 9:40am we’ll have a brief break, and set up for the regular 10am service-no obligation to stay for the service but all are welcome.

From 10-11:45 is our regular Sunday service, which includes tea, chanting, seated and walking meditation, and a dharma talk. Koshin will speak about Waking Up.
