10 am to 2:30 pm – The Practice and Spirit of Sumi-E (Japanese Ink Painting Workshop)

$40 – $50
Learn about the history and philosophy of the art of Sumi-e, and try your hand at painting classic subjects, such as bamboo and enso. We provide all art supplies and materials, you bring a sack lunch and wear work clothes or an apron. Participants who have sumi-e art tools are welcome to bring them.
The class will be held indoors at the Zen Center, and Covid protocols (masking, distancing) will be observed.
Participants must be vaccinated.
- Class size limit: 12 persons
- Cost: $40 PSZC members; $50 non-members
Jeri Jo Carstairs has been creating sumi-e paintings for 10 plus years, studying with her teacher in Tacoma. She has expressed her teaching philosophy as “when I enjoy doing something, I like to share it with others.” PSZC members may remember receiving sangha care cards displaying Jeri Jo’s lovely work.
