Please join us for our All-Night Sit and Enlightenment Day services taking place Saturday and Sunday, December 6 and 7.
As the story goes, the night before his enlightenment, the Buddha sat all night under the bodhi tree until he saw the morning star and came to a great realization.
We sit all night, from 10 PM to 7 AM the next morning. From 7:15 to 8:15, we have breakfast. There is a ceremony commemorating the Buddha’s enlightenment at 8:30 on Sunday, Dec 7. You’re welcome to join us for any and all parts of this night/morning.
Feel free to come and go as you need. Those who sit all night welcome and appreciate the energy of new people dropping in (IN-PERSON AND ON ZOOM). Formal tea will be served during the night.
During the night, we typically sit for 20-25 minute intervals and then walk outside, weather permitting.
A schedule of events. All are invited to any/all parts:
- 10:00 PM, Dec 6 to 7:00 AM Dec 7: All-night meditation
- 7:15 – 8:15 AM: Breakfast
- 8:30 AM: Enlightenment Day Ceremony
The ceremony will be followed by a walking meditation and one zazen period. We will finish by 10 AM.
