Our annual four-day zazenkai meditation retreat will take place at the Puget Sound Zen Center on Vashon Island from October 14-18, 2026. Beginning Wednesday evening, we will follow a schedule of Zen practice, including daily zazen (seated meditation), kinhin (walking meditation), chanting, dharma talks, and teacher interviews, plus qi-gong and samu (work practice).
THIS RETREAT IS NON-RESIDENTIAL. All will go home to sleep. If you are coming from off-Island, please contact the registrar@pszc.org, who can help you find a place to stay. Camping on the PSZC grounds is available.
A simple vegetarian breakfast and supper, plus drinks and snacks, will be served daily, but please be prepared to bring a bag lunch. Attendance is limited to full-time or half-time (Th and Fri) or Sat and Sun).

Also, two half-fee scholarships are available for those in need; please contact the registrar.

9:45 am: Dharma Talk
10:30 am: Zazen with Dokusan
12:00 pm: Lunch and Break
1:00 pm: Samu (Work Practice)
2:00 pm: Qigong
2:30 pm: Tea and Chanting
3:15 pm: Zazen with Dokusan, Long Sit
5:30 pm: Dinner and Break
6:30 pm: Gyodo, Zazen
8:45 pm: Closing
Sunday 18 Oct, closing is at 5 pm, followed by a social hour
