a monk who asked, “Does an enlightened man fall under the law of cause and effect? The monk answered “No”, and his incorrect answer resulted in his being reborn as a fox for 500 lifetimes. Hoping to escape another rebirth as a fox, the monk consults Zen Master Hyakujo. Hyakujo’s response frees the monk, but will it free us?
