7pm – Enlivenment: Zen Icebreaker
May 23, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
“Going and coming, we are never astray,
with thought that is no-thought,
Singing and dancing is the voice of the law.”
Hakuin’s Song of Zazen
Could it be a trip to the north passage? A form/ no form discussion in monastery style? Or, an online bartending class?
No, Enlivenment is a relaxed and entertaining community event organized by the programs committee. We’ll have some fun connecting with sangha members, and showcase our creative side — yes that’s you!
When: Saturday May 23rd, 7pm
Where: in the online emptiness of the internet — using Zoom
Who: the sangha (zen community), emcee’d by Koshin and organized by the programs committee
What: a live event of short 3 – 5 minute creative offerings from you — sangha members
Possible offerings include:
- Play an instrument and/or sing
- Read a poem or short prose (not necessarily your own)
- Act out a scene
- Show 2D or 3D artwork
- Display and talk about artful photos you’ve taken
- Present a cartoon or video
- Share a “how-to”
- Present a short activity that can be viewed and heard online
You do not have to present something in order to attend, but…we hope you will!
Sign-up here. No cost to attend.
Enlivenment: Zen Icebreaker is sure to be an event to remember during the COVID-19 shelter in place period. We’re living through a pandemic. Let’s explore creative practice for this night of connecting with sangha members in a different light. Offer up something of yourself that may not be known to your sangha friends and have some fun doing it.
