8-9:00 am Qigong Saturday with Anshin

December 21 @ 8:00 am - 9:00 am

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 8:00 am on Saturday, repeating indefinitely

Anshin in his Buddhist robe performing a QiGong exercise in front of a small pool of water.

Join us for Zazen from 8-8:30, followed by Qigong from 8:30 to 9.

Relax. Breathe. Move.
Join us in the ancient practice of harmonizing body and mind using simple, easy to follow meditation in motion. You will learn breathing techniques that generate free- flowing energy in the spirit of non achieving. and removing hindrances for health benefits.

The Qigong forms may include:
Shibashi (19 movements, also considered the Tai Chi of Qigong.}
Eight Brocades (Bau Duan Chin, a very old form)
Zhan Zhuang (Standing Like a Tree, 5 movements)
Duong Singh (Vietnamese, practiced by Thich Nhat Hahn monks and nuns using bamboo sticks)

All are welcome. No experience necessary. You can now join us in person or on Zoom.

A Poem About Qigong
by student Elizabeth Fitterer

You remember vaguely,
the circling.

How simple it is,
yet how intricate.

Like, if you were a bird,
this is how you might move.

Like a creature who,
when she has someplace to go,
picks herself up then goes there.

And when she lands
she folds herself into herself
in just a few well-rehearsed motions.

And when she sleeps
the rain beads right off of her feathers
like tears she doesn’t need anymore.
