Sunday Service on the Land – Children Welcome

Please mark your calendars and plan to join us for a Sunday in late summer enjoying our piece of land on the north end of the island.

The address of the land is: 15816 Vashon Highway. The land is located up the driveway just north of the Harbor School. Please park in the Harbor School/park district lot. We’ll have just a few parking spaces available on the land for those with limited mobility.

We’ll bring a selection of cushions and chairs for meditation out in the grassy area, and we’ll sit freeform style–people can move cushions and chairs wherever they like, in sunlight or in shade. We’ll serve some type of cold beverage for tea.

At 10am, we’ll have tea, chanting, meditation, and a kinhin walk either in the clearing or on the forest trail.

Then we’ll move into some work practice on the land-most likely some clearing, weeding, trimming, etc.

After that at noon, we’ll move into our summer potluck picnic.

Feel free to drop in for whatever portion of the morning/afternoon works for you. Children are welcome and encouraged. Older kids can join the zazen, and during the potluck we’ll have games and an ice cream maker for kids of all ages.

As an FYI, we have no restroom facilities on the property. The park district has several portapotties a couple hundred yards away from the property by the Park District fields.

Please bring: a potluck dish to share, some portable chairs or blankets if you would like them for picnicking, and some gloves and loppers and trimmers if you have them.
