This Sunday is Juneteenth, also known as Jubilee Day — marking the end of slavery in the United States — and the second year in a row that we celebrate it as federally recognized national holiday.
Seiho Morris will speak about, “What is It…to Heal our Historical Catastrophe.” Seiho is a Rinzai monk and former addiction counselor who leads workshops based on Zen and twelve step practices.
This Sunday’s service also will include an invitation to reflect on this holiday. Members of the Racial Healing Group have shared an article with resources for consideration that you can view here (scroll to the bottom of the page).
If you are on Vashon Island, please consider attending the Juneteenth celebrations at Mukai Gardens from 11 – 2pm, organized by local Black islanders.
Hope to see you there!
